The Challenge

Lot 22 needed a premium Shopify storefront that conveyed craft provenance and drove gifting season sales. In a market where premium olive oil is indistinguishable from commodity oil at a visual glance, the brand's entire competitive advantage — estate origins, harvest dates, polyphenol content, small-lot production — needed to be front and center in the shopping experience. Without that storytelling, the product competed on price against supermarket alternatives rather than on quality against other artisanal producers. The gifting segment — olive oil as a premium culinary gift — was the highest-AOV opportunity, but the store had no bundle mechanics, no gift packaging option, and no occasion-aware navigation to serve it.

Our Solution

We delivered a custom theme with editorial PDPs, gift bundles, and lifecycle email for tasting and reorder. The theme was built around provenance storytelling: harvest photography from the California and Spanish groves, lot-specific tasting notes, polyphenol content per harvest, and producer profiles for each expression. A harvest release system was built with email waitlist, drop countdown, and member-priority access to create demand and a sense of occasion around each new lot. Gift bundles paired olive oil with specialty finishing salts and pantry accompaniments, and a quarterly subscription was configured for buyers who wanted every harvest automatically.
