The Challenge

Poppy & Peep needed a giftable Shopify experience with seasonal drops and fast perishable fulfillment. Artisan chocolate is a product that arrives either perfectly or damaged — temperature-sensitive shipping makes the delivery experience as important as the product itself. Without shipping-window logic, buyers were placing orders that couldn't be safely fulfilled, resulting in cancellations and disappointed gift recipients. The gifting experience — the primary reason their customers buy — was completely undeveloped: no gift messaging, no gift-wrap option, no occasion-based navigation, and no direct-ship-to-recipient checkout flow.

Our Solution

We built a custom theme with gift-builder flows, seasonal collections, and shipping-window logic for perishables. Occasion-based navigation was built as the primary browse architecture, replacing category-by-product-type navigation with a gift-finder organized by recipient and occasion. A gift builder allowed customers to select box size, assortment, personalized message, and gift-wrap style in a single flow. Shipping-window logic was implemented to display safe delivery dates and block checkout when orders couldn't be fulfilled within temperature-safe windows, eliminating the manual cancellation overhead.
