
The Bella Cottage needed to merchandise one-of-a-kind furniture pieces online without losing their boutique feel. The core challenge was communicating the romance and quality of physical pieces through a digital medium — plain product photography on white backgrounds didn't convey the lived-in, layered aesthetic that made their in-person shopping experience compelling. One-of-a-kind and limited-run inventory created operational complexity: when a piece sold, it needed to immediately disappear from the catalog to avoid repeat orders and disappointed customers. Freight shipping for furniture was an underdeveloped checkout experience that was causing high-AOV carts to abandon at the shipping step.
We built a Shopify experience with high-resolution imagery, custom product attributes, and white-glove checkout. The theme was rebuilt around lifestyle photography in styled room settings, with editorial sections on the homepage that communicated the brand's aesthetic universe rather than leading with individual products. A "One of a Kind" product flag system was built to automatically mark items as sold and remove them from the collection feed when inventory depleted, preventing the customer disappointment of ordering something unavailable. LTL carrier integration was added for large furniture items with accurate freight shipping estimates at checkout.
